About 15 years ago we set GNGCD, and in particular Bob Harrison [then employed as lead designer for GNGCD], an enormous challenge.  We challenged them to create a championship quality golf course on a flat, rocky, badly degraded former salt farm in Melbourne’s western suburbs.  The property actually looked a bit like the surface of the moon!

We wanted a links style course as the centrepiece of a planned 2800 lot masterplanned residential community.

Did Bob and his team succeed?  The proof is in the pudding.  Sanctuary Lakes Resort is undeniably the most prestigious masterplanned community in Melbourne’s west.  Virtually all lots have been sold, many at record prices. Homeowners now enjoy superb amenity and property values that are at least 30% above other homes outside the Resort.

All I can say is thanks Bob for embracing our vision and your passion to ensure a fantastic result.

During my period as a Board Member of the National Golf Club during the expansion from one to three courses I spent many hours with Bob Harrison who was the “on the ground “ course designer for Greg Norman in Australia.  I enjoyed this time with Bob at a personal level and also came to admire what a wonderful feel he had for the land and creating so many great holes on our Moonah layout which has regularly been voted in the top ten courses in Australia.

I have also been lucky enough to have played many of the other courses Bob has been involved in bringing to fruition and this has cemented my view that he has a great gift for course design.

The Brookwater Golf Course is the most awarded public access course in Qld. Designed by Greg Norman Golf Design, the lead designer Bob Harrison has achieved an outstanding golf course built on a very challenging site. Every hole is unique in its character, and the bunkers and greens are both challenging and visually attractive.

I first met Bob Harrison in 1970. I noticed this young man with a fine golf swing playing on the nine hole golf course part of The Australian Golf Club.

In 1973 he became a member of The Australian Golf Club where I was retained as the Club Professional as a result we played many rounds of golf. His love of the game of golf led him into the golf course design business.

I have played all of Bob’s early golf courses plus those built when he was employed as lead designer for Greg Norman Golf Course Design, and all of these courses are highly rated by golfers of all levels of skill.

At Gilston Golf Course I was able to watch Bob Harrison create 18 golf greens which made the course a joy to play. His skill to build a golf green and make each hole a great adventure to the finish has made the course now known as The Grand Golf Club one of the many outstanding courses where Bob has put his talents to work.

I would not hesitate to recommend Bob Harrison and his support team to any client who is looking to have built a golf course that will be enjoyable for the many golfers of different skill levels. I know Bob Harrison has those skills and he knows how to apply them.

We had a flat site at Pelican Waters without many features, and we're thankful that Bob Harrison and the team were able to produce an interesting golf course.

Bob's flair for the artistic component of the course was matched by his planning efforts to help us achieve an integration between the golf course and our residential development, which has helped make the project a commercial success.

This letter is to confirm that Bob Harrison had both a professional relationship with me and with Macquarie Bank Ltd for approximately 10 years.

Macquarie Bank Ltd had conducted a property development business with Great White Shark Enterprises (QWSE) during that period. Medallist has undertaken the development of a significant number of golf course residential communities over this time, with Bob involved as both a golf course designer and as a GWSE appointed director of Medallist.

Medallist, and Macquarie Bank Ltd, have valued Bob's professional approach to his involvement with us both personally and as part of the GWSE team over the period of his involvement.

Bob Harrison, during his association with Great White Shark, made impressive contributions to the Australian golf course scene as the primary design architect at top ten courses Ellerston and Moonah. As Great White Shark's consultant architect to the New South Wales GC for the past 13 years, Bob oversaw the introduction of links style pot bunkers, successfully introduced sand wastelands, advised on major and minor green site refurbishment and redesigned the 1st and 18th holes with great success. His willingness to take advice from experienced club members was a great attribute as was his affable character.

Bob Harrison's contribution at NSWGC has seen the course rise in the World Rankings and consistently challenge for the coveted Australian No. 1 ranking. Bob is highly respected by the Club and his association with three of Australia's top ten golf courses is an outstanding credential.
